WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOPS IN 2016
Watercolour Workshops at The Bakehouse Studio
I have organised with THE BAKEHOUSE STUDIO at 54 Renwick Street in Marrickville to teach regular Wednesday 3-hour watercolour painting group workshops on their premises from 10am – 1pm.
The first workshop, Introducing Watercolours, will take place there on Wednesday 9 March 2016. All of these workshops are designed to show how using watercolours can be easy and are suitable for absolute beginners or students who may have worked in oils or acrylics and are wanting to try this wonderful medium.
On Wednesday mornings during March there will also be workshops on the topics of: Travel Sketching & Diaries; Easy Flowers; and Interiors & Still Life.
The following flyer has more information and to secure a place in the class for the March 9 Introducing Watercolours workshop, or to find out more about this one and the other workshops coming up throughout March, please email me at:
I am also looking into holding occasional weekend workshops and am available for individual tuition (by appointment) with a venue and dates to be announced.
Botanical Art Workshop at Scratch Art Space
After the successful Simply Watercolour workshop I held on the premises of Scratch Art Space at 67 Sydenham Road Marrickville, in early November 2015, I am pencilled in to teach a 2-day weekend Botanical Art watercolour painting workshop in the second half of 2016 with the final dates yet to be confirmed.
This workshop will take students through from how to observe their plant subject; doing a preliminary drawing of the plant; transferring the image onto watercolour paper and applying colour to produce the final painting.
To express interest, and to take advantage of the early bird registration discount for attending this workshop, please see the Scratch Art Space website and contact them directly:
UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS IN 2016
As a member of the Australian Society of Miniature Art, there are two exhibitions later in the year that I will be participating in. The first is an exhibition titled Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow which will be held at Juniper Hall in Paddington NSW from 21 May – 5 June 2016. I am planning on submitting 3 watercolour works based on the exhibition theme.
The other is the Annual ASMA Awards Exhibition which will run from July 31 – 20 August 2016 at the Ewart Gallery in Willoughby NSW.
October/November Joint Exhibition
I am currently in the early planning stages to develop a joint exhibition with my old friend and fellow artist, Margaret Carey. At the moment the exhibition has the working title of Travelogue and will mainly feature images rendered in pencil/pen & ink with watercolours of glimpses/scenes/impressions from our travels at home and abroad.
My husband, Jamie McIlWraith, will also be joining us for the exhibition with his digital ‘dioramas’ created in Photoshop which tie in well with the theme of this exhibition.
There will be more details about all three of these three exhibitions over the coming months.

HI Pam The Watercolour Workshops sound wonderful! I hope they are a great success and you have many students. It is wonderful that you are able to share of your talent this way. I have a friend in India who has started painting in his retirement and he is doing a lot with absolutely no training. I wish he could come and attend one of your workshops! Am so proud of you Pam!
