‘Simply Watercolour’

‘SIMPLY WATERCOLOUR’
1 NOVEMBER 2015 WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOP
Scratch Art Space, 67 Sydenham Road, Marrickville, NSW

Homegrown Lemons

I will be teaching a one-day watercolour workshop called ‘SIMPLY WATERCOLOUR’ from 10am – 4pm on Sunday 1 November 2015 at the Marrickville gallery/art school, Scratch Art Space.

In this workshop students will learn the basic techniques for painting with watercolours and will see how easy they can be to use by commencing with some simple exercises and advancing to producing some small finished paintings to take home.

Using a limited palette of just 5 colours, students will be shown how to work quickly in a loose style which requires only a minimum amount of drawing and I will demonstrate how this simple method can be applied to virtually any subject ranging from still life to visual travel diaries.

This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners with no watercolour painting or drawing experience and will also be useful for those students who have worked with acrylics or oils and are interested in trying this versatile medium.

The watercolour paints needed are included in the cost of the workshop so students will only need to bring just an A4 185gsm watercolour pad (I suggest the 12-sheet Canson watercolour pad which can be purchased for around $12 from art supply shops); a 2B pencil; paper towels; a white plastic or china dinner plate or tray (around A4 size) for mixing paints on; and your lunch (the gallery has a fridge), coffee and tea will be provided.

I will supply the paintbrushes needed and some samples of different papers for students to experiment with and will also bring along a range of photographic and other reference for students to use as subject material.

For anyone wanting to know more about what art supplies to bring or have any other queries relating to the workshop (apart from booking the class), you can email me on:

pam.juno@bigpond.com

or call 9558 2248.

The cost of the workshop is $160 (includes all watercolour paints needed) or $140 if you take advantage of registering early before 14 October 2015. You will need to contact Scratch Art Space directly to express interest in attending the class and to make a booking:

The gallery is located at 67 Sydenham Road Marrickville which is down the Sydenham Station end so close to the train and the bus routes 423, 426 and M30 stop at the corner of Victoria and Sydenham Roads with only a short walk down to the gallery. For those students who will be driving there is plenty of available parking close by. http://www.scratchartspace.com/
